These are the pathways we see work most often for Australian veterans and first responders. Each one covers what the job actually involves, what it pays, which qualifications are genuinely required, and how to describe your service in words an employer recognises.

Project & Program Management
If you have planned an activity, resourced it, briefed it and reported on it, you have already run projects. The gap is vocabulary, not capability.

Work Health & Safety
Assess the hazard, control it, brief the people affected, investigate what went wrong. You have done this for years. The legislation is the only new part.

Operations Management
The closest civilian equivalent to running a sub-unit, a watch or a shift. Direct accountability from day one, and pay that reflects it.

Logistics & Supply Chain
Few civilian supply chains are as unforgiving as sustaining a deployed force. This is the most directly transferable trade in the ADF.

Corporate and protective security is one of the few fields where a policing or military background is the credential, not the thing you have to explain away.

Emergency Management
Planning for, responding to and recovering from things going badly wrong. Australia has no shortage of demand and few candidates who have done it for real.

Gathering evidence, interviewing properly and writing a report that withstands challenge. Almost nobody outside policing has done this at volume.

Strong demand and good pay, but the honest answer is that this pathway needs real technical work. Best suited to signals, IT and intelligence backgrounds.

Training & Assessment
If you spent your service teaching people to do dangerous things safely, this is a short, well-defined bridge into a field that always needs people.

Construction & Site Management
Early starts, physical sites, and a team that has to get something built. Combat engineers and trades transfer with the least translation of any pathway.

Most people arrive here able to name what they do not want and little else.
