Five minutes on your end. The rest is ours.
Most first responder listings go live within 24–72 hours. Here is exactly what happens between submit and badge.
Day 0
You submit
About five minutes — business name, category, location, links, ownership confirmation and a discount offer if you have one.
Day 1–2
We verify
A human on the M1R team checks your service evidence against the application. We sight documents, never store them long-term.
Day 2–3
Badge + go-live
Your Verified First Responder Owned badge is assigned, your listing is categorised and placed on the directory and the relevant state and service pages.
Ongoing
No annual review
Once verified, the badge stays. No re-verification, no recurring fee, no upsell. Free for life as advertised.
What first responder applicants actually ask.
Is the listing actually free for life?
Yes. First responder-owned businesses list free for life on M1R Alliance. No trial period, no upgrade pressure, no recurring fee. Aligned supporter businesses fund the verified directory the people who serve get for free.
Who counts as a first responder?
Police (federal and state), career and retained firefighters, volunteer rural and country fire brigades (CFS, CFA, RFS and equivalents), paramedics, ambulance officers, State Emergency Service members and corrections officers — current serving and former. If you wore one of those uniforms, you qualify.
How do you verify service?
Depending on the agency, we accept warrant card or service ID, payroll evidence, retired officer credentials, brigade membership records, AHPRA registration (paramedics), or a verifiable reference inside the relevant agency. Documents are sighted, not stored long-term.
I am a volunteer — do I still qualify?
Yes. Volunteer service in CFS, CFA, RFS, SES, St John Ambulance, country fire brigades or volunteer marine rescue counts the same as career service for the badge and the listing.
How long does the whole process take?
Most listings go live within 24 to 72 hours. If we need additional evidence or a short call to clarify service, it can stretch to about a week. We will keep you updated by email.
I am both a veteran and a first responder. Where do I apply?
Apply through either page and tick both ownership boxes on the form. You will receive the combined Veteran and First Responder Owned badge, which is the rarest one on the directory.
