Is it really free for life?
Yes. Veteran-owned and first responder-owned businesses list free for life on M1R Alliance. No trial period, no upgrade pressure, no recurring fee. The directory is funded by aligned supporter businesses who pay to stand visibly with the community.
What counts as veteran-owned?
If you served in the Australian Defence Force — Navy, Army, Air Force — and you own a controlling stake in the business, you qualify. Current serving and former members both count. Reservists qualify. Discharge type is not a barrier as long as service is verifiable.
What do you need to verify my service?
A service record extract, DVA card, discharge documents or AGSM are the most common forms of evidence. We sight documents — we do not store them long-term. If anything is unclear we will pick up the phone for a short conversation.
How long does verification take?
Most listings go live within 24 to 72 hours of application. If we need additional evidence or a quick call to clarify service, it can stretch to about a week. We will keep you updated by email.
What does the verified veteran-owned badge actually do?
It signals to anyone visiting your profile or finding you in search that your ownership has been checked by M1R Alliance — not self-declared, not a tick-box. The community looks for the badge specifically, and aligned supporter businesses use it as a filter when they want to spend with veterans first.
Can I list more than one business?
Yes. If you own multiple businesses, each one can be listed separately. Each business goes through its own verification, but the service evidence only needs to be submitted once.
