3rd Alarm Coffee Company

Growing up in the 80s and 90s on a steady diet of Dad’s beer froth and second-hand smoke, I figured I was pretty well immune to most things. Turns out, no amount of Dukes of Hazzard re-runs or lead-painted action figures could prepare me for the kind of PTSD that comes with the job. It took me far too long to recognise the signs, and in 2026 I stepped away from the QFD after 17 years as a firefighter. 3rd Alarm Coffee Company was born out of that experience. My goal is simple: provide resources for those still on the front lines to help them stay healthy in the job. Because the reality is, it’s a tough gig at times. It’s not all blue chairs and ice creams. So I’m putting it all out there — everything I can find that might help. The resources on Fit for Off Duty will keep growing and changing, so feel free to use them, share them, or reach out if you’ve got something worth adding. Oh, and we also make coffee. No wanky infusions or man buns. Just full-bodied, quality coffee — the kind your grandad would’ve drunk after fixing a tractor, chopping the heads off half a dozen chickens, and pushing a sheep’s prolapsed butthole back into place. Take care of yourself, and try to be a bit more like your grandad. Just not as racist.
